Great bag. Functional and easy to use. The bag is easy to attach and detach. The bag does not swing from the tube while riding, but is firmly attached to the bike.
While I have only had the aeropack for about a year, it has been a game-changer for my bikepacking. I have only used it on a few trips in Sweden and USA, under wet and dry conditions.
The aeropack is impressively stable over any terrain—you won’t worry the pack will fall apart or otherwise break. You don’t notice any sway or movement. I say this having bought a fancy seatpack previously that would fall out of its holster onto the road when full.
While only using the aeropack with direct mounting to my frame, the build seems extremely dependable. The screws are pre-treated with locktite. All joining materials seem to be very high quality and built to last under bad conditions on a moving vehicle. Again, most of you into bikepacking are familiar with buying products that seem to have saved money on production costs or otherwise used suboptimal materials to save a few grams.
At this point, I should mention I am not the tallest rider and have a small frame bike. So, it is a key benefit that you can both easily pack and store more capacity in the aeropack than alternative seatpacks.
Two small wishes that yielded a four star review. First, I have the extender for the aeropack given my small build and frame—it does help. But not all that much. It seems practically impossible if on a small or extra small frame to fill out the aeropack under its current design (viz. it gets stuck under your saddle, and you might want or have to reposition it to help.) It would be even more awesome if some of the engineers could invest eventually in maximizing an aeropack capacity for the smaller riders out there. Second, I bought the aeropack not too long before the cargo version came out, which has a lot of benefits for bikepacking. It would have been nice to know a little earlier that it was under development.
I would naturally say buy the aeropack if you are getting seriously into bikepacking and for longer-distance with more needed capacity. It is worth the money and you always buy what you pay for. Perhaps hold off if you are unsure about bikepacking or just getting a start.
Hi Nicholas, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a review! I've passed it on to the rest of our team and we appreciate your constructive feedback too. I hope that you have some great trips planned in the future too! All the best, Poppy
Already used it on a bike packing trip - I wish I had gotten the quick release option, or else it’s screwed onto the bike, which makes it difficult to remove and add your things at night. But I kept all my things in a bag to make it a bit easier.
I wish it had been included in the price, or more clear the consequences of not getting the quick release
I am thrilled with the Tailfin Aeropack. I recently used it for the first time on a 330 mile gravel trip and it was a major improvement over my Ortlieb seatpost packs. There is no sway whatsoever, you can access your items from the top without removing the pack, and the weight (carbon version) is extremely low. I love the fact that I can remove the pack in a matter of seconds. It folds up and easily fits in my airplane luggage. It is totally waterproof, having tested it through several storms. The axle system is genius and very easy to use. My only complaint is the zippered pockets on the side are useless to me, and are covered by the straps anyway. For items I need to reach quickly, I use the bag under my top tube.
Hi David,
So pleased to hear you're happy with your AeroPack and thanks for taking the time to leave us some feedback too! It's great to hear your thoughts on the closure system and this is something I've passed onto our team. I hope you have some more good rides planned with your system and continue to enjoy your bikepacking adventures with Tailfin!
All the best, Poppy

“All in all, the new CargoPack (previously known as the AeroPack) is a smart, practical evolution of the original design.”
“The CargoPack (previously known as the AeroPack) does nothing to diminish its predecessor’s reputation – this thing is rock-solid on the trail without a hint of sway.”
“If you’re new to the Tailfin ecosystem, the new CargoPack (previously known as the AeroPack) refines an already standout product line. I cannot think of a better rear bag system, especially if you’re transferring it between multiple bikes. I am sure I’ll be happily using mine for years to come.”
