Top quality top tube bag

Well thought out / well made / easy to install / secure on the bike / maintained my paintwork finish / looks good / received compliments. What's not to like other than the price. But this is a top quality product so I don't mind forking out for it.

Top Tier product!

You can tell as soon as you open the box that their products are top-notch! I switched from a different top tube bag because it kept shifting around while riding…not Tailfin. Stays perfectly centered and never moved on my 5 day bikepacking trip. I’ve already ordered a frame bag and I’m excited for my next adventure.

Great addition to existing packing system

I've used the top tube bag in addition to my existing frame bag which is also from Tailfin, mainly to store wallet, keys, and some snacks so these items could be within reach as fast as possible.

The 0.8L Size is perfect for me, fits my iPhone 13 Pro (including a case) easily and still has some room for a few little items.

It's waterproof as it's advertised and believe me when I say so, because I've been through a horrendous multiple-days of rain during my last trip. The bag along with the bike was exposed to a total of 15+ hours of heavy rain and multiple showers throughout the next day. As scary as it was, once I opened this bag, contents of it were try, and not a single droplet of water inside.

Other than that, it was easily combined with the frame bag's existing straps and it did not move an inch during the whole trip.

A definitive recommendation for those who are looking for some extra space.

I’m undecided on pack size, how can I check?

Use the specifications above or print our template and cut to size

Can you use 3rd party straps to fit?

Yes, the V-Mounts can accommodate any standard 20mm width cargo style strap. However be aware that many cargo straps use a longer prong that could catch skin or clothing.

Is it safe to cinch on a carbon frame?

Absolutely. Even when pulled very tight the natural stretch of our Cargo Strap system exerts minimal force to the frame.

What size pack if I have multiple bikes?

You should base your choice on which bike you are mainly going to use and also how much storage you would typically need. Our 1.1 Litre Top Tube Packs are designed to fit almost any style of bike so would be our recommendation to be used on multiple bikes.

Which should I choose? Flip or zip?

Our Zip Top Tube Packs offer the narrowest profiles so are perfect for riders who typically suffer from knee rub from top tube packs. They also offer the most secure storage to carry valuables on rough surfaces. Our Flip Top packs allow for rapid access and great visibility of contents, perfect if you want constant access to food, phone or camera whilst on the move. Flip Tops also offer slightly better weather resistance if riding in constant storm conditions.

Do I need to use protective tape on my frame?

No! When attached correctly the soft rubber of the V-Mount grips the frame so well that there is zero likelihood of movement.

What size phones can I fit?

We were at pains to ensure that all sizes of Top Tube Pack can accommodate a standard iPhone or Android equivalent, even the smallest 0.8 Litre pack. If you have a larger (Plus) style phone you will need to look at the 1.1 Litre or 1.5 Litre Top Tube Packs.

Is there a weight limit for what can be carried?

Within reason you can carry any weight in a Top Tube Pack. The limit would be volume.

Can I fit the pack elsewhere? Seat tube etc

Although the packs have been shaped to fit perfectly on the top tube the V-Mount system will allow you to fit a Top Tube Pack anywhere (except forks). We would recommend this only for Zip opening packs as a Flip Top opening would not be as secure in a vertical orientation.

What if I use a frame pump?

The straps supplied with the Top Tube Packs are low profile so shouldn’t interfere with standard frame pump fittings.

How do I look after it? Clean it?

As with all Tailfin soft goods we recommend that they be washed with warm soapy water if you want to clean them (although we like a good dirt patina!)See our cleaning guide here.

Do I need to cut the V-Mount if I want to screw it in place?

No, the rubber V-Mount covers are pre-cut to allow screws to pass through neatly.
