The product, is well made, fits perfectly and just what I needed for my carbon frame bike.
Just bought the new frame bag and, like all other Tailfin products, it is amazing. Please now realise one for suspension MTBs.
Bought this for my new e-gravel (Mondraker Dusty RR) bike after trying a few cheap models with velcro fixing. The bike came with the possibility for a fixed top tube mount for bags. Unfortunately the on/off button for the motor is directly in fornt of the mount - sth I only realized when I tried to fix the Tailfin bag - I could have looked at the very detailed specs provided on their website and could´ve measured before ordering... 🙂 But since the bottom of the bag is relatively flexible and soft it was not a problem to mount, half of the battery display is covered but that´s ok. The bag itself is abolutely waterproof, I use it for my daily 25k commute in every weather to store my phone and other stuff - it is light yet seems to be quite durable. The openig could be a bit bigger (longer) to get my phone easier in and out (the Samsung Galaxy s20 FE does not seem to be that big). Last but not least it was one of very few good looking bags, I especially love the flap opening! I can definitely recommend the top tube bag from Tailfin.
This is simply the best frame bag out there. My issues with previous frame bags where: weak zips, zips that kept snagging, zero degree of waterproofness, minor knee rubbing.
After 500km and a 12 continuous hrs under heavy rain, I'm happy to report that the bag solves all those issues. And last but not least it fits the bike perfectly and looks so good!
I was thinking about on-bike storage for my longer rides but wasn't sure what to go for. I had heard about Tailfin from watching guys like Fernwee, Chris Hall, Francis Cade and Lachlan Morton, but I didn't need anything as big as a rear rack at the time. So when the frame bags came out I knew they'd be worth checking out.
Watching the deep dive video on YouTube and it was obviously a well-considered product with a passionate team behind it, so I got the measuring tape out. I wanted to go as big as possible (i.e. all the way to the seat tube) but wasn't totally sure which size to choose until I tried the machine learning tool on the website, which worked perfectly. Decision made!
After a few minutes of trial-and-error adjusting the straps and finding the right spot, the most impressive thing initially is that those V-mounts and stretchy straps just don't budge. No wobble or rattle whatsoever, it just stays exactly where I put it, fully loaded or totally empty. Very nice indeed.
I got the 3.8L size which I haven't managed to fill up yet—but to give you an idea of capacity, for a longer ride I've taken a rolled up insulated gilet pushed towards the back, a spare pair of warm gloves next to that, then in the widest part some snacks/bars/gels, a sunglasses case, a tube of suncream, lip balm, and still room to spare. Then on the other side I stash my phone, keys, and anything flat like a credit card or train ticket in the little pockets.
I really appreciate the internal bracing which means you can use both zips one-handed, regardless of how much or how little is inside. Perfect for grabbing some sweets while riding! I opted for new side-entry bottle cages to use with the frame bag—the normal (top-entry) cages did work but were tricky to use one-handed while rolling. The internal velcro straps are a smart idea too, for those that like to take a bigger pump, or a lunchtime chorizo.
Since I got this frame bag I just load it up, tool pouch on the saddle, mini pump on a bottle cage, and I'm good to go. For me, this is much more comfortable and convenient than cramming my jersey pockets and popping a shoulder trying to reach them! It also opens up the possibility of using more "civilian" clothes on my top half for longer rides, because I no longer need jersey pockets.
Overall, it's super well made, looks awesome on my bike, and it's really easy and convenient to use. I can also take it off the bike in about ten seconds—not that I have felt the need to yet! Most importantly, it means I can take a ton of extra layers and food on my rides, and feel like I've got everything I could possibly need. I genuinely can't think of a way of improving this product. Great job Tailfin!
I bought a 3.5 litre wedge framebag and 1.1 litre zip closure top tube bag and both products have been flawless and admittedly are expensive but well worth the cost. I would definitely buy them again and I’m now looking at buying the aero pack.
Recently purchased a 3.8l frame bag…..quality, fit and price were all spot on. I have a few of Tailfins products and they are all great
All round awesome! Easy to fit, easy to access what’s in there on the go, and absolutely cavernous - can fit way more in there than I was expecting.
Tailfin nailed it with the framepack. Delivery was fast and the pack itself is everything I hoped for, robust, spacious and waggle free.
This is a very well designed bag. It’s secure with very flexible fixings. It does all I need👍👍👍
Having invested in an Aero Tailfin, new wedge frame bag and tube tube bag in quick succession, I can’t impress on you more that the quality fit and function of all items listed is second to none. Me and a coupe of mates (also Tailfin advocates), set out on a 300 mile shake down at the weekend to ensure our kit was ready for our pending bike packing adventure. The kit worked as advertised and besides the weight when loaded up, the bikes rode impressively well, there is zero movement when out of the saddle climbing, no annoying noises such as rattling as found with some kit tested, no nasty frame rub from the extensively designed fixings and above all our kit remained dry and secure through rain and the abuse thrown at them. Having ridden for a couple of miles you honestly wouldn’t know you were loaded with extra kilos of kit. Couple of caveats id recommend when considering your purchase is the aero Tailfin extension bar as this ensured easier access to the bag once fitted, plus the bottle dropper for clean access to your bidon’s with a frame bag fitted. That about wraps things up - thanks for the effort and passion invested in the launch of such quality products. Steve
As per with Tailfin products it simply works so much that you just don't notice it there, love the slimline pocket, useful for foil blanket, spare cables and thin stuff like that, large side is pretty cavernous (on the frame bag I have) and I can get everything I need and more in there for a full 12 hour + day in the saddle. Strap method is solid and the zips don't rattle about so all in all a well thought out product, also have a Tailfin top tube bag and the rear frame pack system for all the bike packing duties!
Great gear. A game changer for my bike adventures. Especially packing and accessing stuff is so great. And of course when riding: feels super tight, even when fully loaded and climbing. Super fast shipping to Switzerland btw.
Perfect product
I got the Alloy Rack with ultra durable Pannier 22 Liters for commuting (and bike packing) and the AP top bag. The gear is in use on 40 km a day through München/Germany.
The Rack was/ is extremely easy to mount/ dismount on my Salsa Cutthroat and my FOCUS Hardtail. This is the most solid construction I ever had for the past 25 years of commuting more than 75.000 km. I love the unparlleled versatility of the rack – just ONE RACK for ALL the BIKES including the roadbike.
The 22 L Panniers don´t waggle at all. Also during riding out of the saddle all stays stable and you even don´t feel the baggage. For now the Panniers kept 100 % dry in about 15 hours of severe rain. It opens/ closes easy, fast and safe.
I also used the AP rack top bag. It´s a nice bag with enough space for commuting.
What I don´t appreciate is the way to pack and roll the bag and then close/ open 4 (four !) fasteners. All together it is way to long-winded and makes the nice bag useless for my daily routine. The zipper on the side doesn´t improve the operation – you won´t grab the right item out of the bag.
I got some technical questions – all of them have been solved in a elaborate way by Tailfins service-staff via email.
Big complement. But not only for the service but especialy for the RACK. I´ll get definitely more of the great racks for your bikes.
Been following Tailfin for quite a while and have made several purchases from them. I have the tailfin rack with the aero pack that has been fantastic. As well as the toptube bag that was exactly as described. I had also ordered the long awaited frame bag, however, it didn't end up working with the set up that I decided to go with. Sam ended up being the one that was working with me to get a return processed. Excellent communication. Excellent customer service. Rare to find nowadays.
Bought this bag on recommendation of Cade media and from a friend who has one. I've fitted it to the top tube using the torqs bolts and it's solid, maybe a little close to the stem bolts but no real issues. I've bought it to hold all my tools and spares/pump for an endurance event and it does that with room for a few chocolate bars. It's waterproof, I have the flap closure option, and repels my sweat drips very well. You can also use it for a phone charger as it has an opening for a cable. Overall premium product, underlined by the premium packaging, and it does the job well. 5 stars!
I am disabled with SCI and have limited mobility in the legs and only have muscles in the quads so needed to keepm the weight down and limit what i carry so the Aeropack is ideal, easy to fit and keeps the weight close
I needed a pannier rack for both my carbon bikes and came across Tailfin and immediately thought it would be ideally suitable. I contacted them prior to purchasing to seek advice about mounting as I needed both a quick release and a bolt through fitting. I received a quick response, placed my order and it arrived in a couple of days. Their online video made fitting simple. It literally takes seconds to fit or remove. I went for the longer top mount as I have medium size frames and it does make the pannier fitting better as it’s slightly further back making it easier to get on and off the bike.I purchased the alloy version simply as I didn’t feel I could justify the cost of the carbon one as I will only use it a couple of times a year. I would happily recommend this product to anyone.
High quality and sturdy mounting.
Light Mount (Seat Post Mimic)
I turned to Tailfin bike packing bags and frame due to not liking other bags I bought and used. Having a top bag and side bags that is removable and easy to access makes life a lot better on the road. I’m about to use the bags again on June 2, 2024 during the Transamerica Bike Race. Last several races I used the set up was just over 500 miles. TABR will be 4,200 miles unsupported so will have a lot of time in and out of the bags. Happy I stumbled across Tailfin a few years back.
I waited until I had used this bag for a few hundred miles before reviewing it. It's brilliant! 😊. The 1.1L is perfect for me. It takes my phone(in flip case), glasses and keys and maybe a gel or two. The bolt on is really stable and the flip top is a game changer. You don't have to worry about clogged or broken zips when bikepacking. Thinking about getting one for my other bikes as don't want to take it off my Camino!
I wanted a rack I could use on more than one bike and Tailfin seemed to fit the bill. I opted for the carbon rack with top bag and two panniers and I'm very pleased with them. I used them in anger for the first time recently doing the C2C from Whitehaven to Sunderland and they performed very well, they attach very securely and look great too. My only slight negative is the panniers aren't quite as big as I thought they would be when compared to the Ortleib panniers I had before. Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase.
