A guide to help you decide between our two types of Frame Bags
Our long-anticipated bike Frame Bags have been in development for 3 years, with many different shapes and sizes trialled. With feedback from top cyclists, we settled on two designs: the Half Wedge Frame Bag and the Wedge Frame Bags. But, what’s the difference between the two frame bags, and which should you choose?
Do you prioritise storage space or space for your bottles?
During our research, we asked riders how many water bottles they typically carried and the sizes used. As expected, there was no one clear answer across bikepacking, gravel riding, mountain biking and commuting.
That’s why we wanted to offer riders multiple bike frame bag options, based on whether they wanted to maximise storage capacity or water-carrying ability.
Why choose the Half Frame Bag?
Our Half Frame Bags are designed to maximise storage capacity within your bike frame. They fill the full length of the top tube, allowing you to carry longer items such as tent poles or frame pumps, as well as extra clothing and snacks, etc.
That’s why we offer multiple sizes, from 2.3L up to 6.5L, to suit even the largest of cycle frames.
And if you’re worried about where to fit your water bottle, we offer Bottle Droppers to help increase space by giving you the option to run your bottles lower down.
Why choose the Wedge Frame Bag?
Our Wedge Frame Bags are designed to maximise the size of water bottles you are able to use. They’re shorter than our Half Frame Bags, allowing you to run a larger bottle or Cargo Cage along your seat tube and offer the lightest options in the range.
The Wedge Frame Bag offers light, compact storage ranging from 1.9L to 3.5L, which is ideal for smaller riders or those with limited bike frame space.
Choosing a frame bag size
After using our Sizing Tool and Templates you might find you’re between sizes or prefer the shape of either the Half or Wedge Frame Bag. This is entirely down to personal preference and frame design.
Our bike bags have been designed with numerous additional features to fit the majority of frame sizes and shapes. While they have an obvious structure, we’ve built in conformity at the front and rear, allowing it to mold to different frame designs and change the internal frame geometry.
Both the Half and Wedge share the same overall design. This includes internal storage dividers and a strap for circular items such as a pump. All bags have a hydration hose/cable port situated at the front of the bag but the amount of storage available will reflect the size of the bag chosen.
