Half vs Wedge Frame Bag

A guide to help you decide between our two types of Frame Bags

New to our product range are our long-anticipated Frame Bags. We have spent 3 years developing and testing different shapes and sizes to offer an option for as many riders as possible. However, you might be wondering what the difference is between the Half and Wedge Frame Bags.

The question is do you prioritise storage or space for your bottles?

During our research, we asked riders to indicate their water bottle preferences in terms of the number of bottles carried and preferred volumes. As expected, we realised that not one shape would work for all riders, which is why we wanted to offer riders the option to choose their frame bag based on whether they prefer to prioritise storage capacity or maximum water-carrying ability.

Why would you choose the Half?

  • Our Half Frame Bags are designed to maximise storage capacity within your frame. They fill the full length of the top tube allowing you to carry longer items such as tent poles or frame pumps, as well as extra clothing and snacks etc. Our larger sizes also only come in Half option and these are better suited for the largest of frames.
  • However, you may have to reduce the size of your water bottles to fit them under the bag. If this is the case, our Bottle Droppers help increase space by giving you the option to run your bottles lower down.

Why would you choose the Wedge?

Our Wedge Frame Bags are designed to maximise the size of water bottles you are able to use. They are shorter than our Half Frame Bags to allow you to run a larger bottle or Cargo Cage along your seat tube and offer the lightest options in the range. The Wedge may also be your only option if you are a smaller rider or have limited frame space.

Of course, after using our Sizing Tool and Templates you might find you’re between sizes or prefer the shape of either the Half or Wedge. This is entirely down to personal preference and frame design. There are numerous additional features that enable our bags to fit seamlessly into the majority of frame sizes and shapes. The key here is that although the bags feature obvious structure, there is inbuilt conformity at the front and rear to accommodate different frame designs and internal frame geometry.

Both the Half and Wedge share the same overall design. This includes internal storage dividers and a strap for circular items such as a pump. All bags have a hydration hose/cable port situated at the front of the bag but the amount of storage available will reflect the size of the bag chosen.
